When I started I don’t have any idea how many lies have to hear about earning consistent income online.

When I believed those lies I was a freelancer and struggle to earn decent money to pay my bills.

I used to think running a one person business was like trying to tame a wild dragon while blindfolded. I was stuck in “gurus” screaming advice, endless YouTube tutorials and every possible “get-rich-quick” scam out there - In fact, my mental gymnastic about “starting someday” could have earned me an Olympic gold.

My wake call came when I couldn’t stand as a freelancer any longer.

Here all the lies I have been following for so long and stuck into same cycle and I don’t want same for you.

Lie One. Don’t monetize now

I spent 1 year waiting for some magical sign before monetize. I thought I need to build some authority before offering something but I was wrong. You can build authority without an failed experience.

You need to try-fail cycle to learn and monetize together.

The Reality Check:

Even if it’s just a $10 offer, sell something. waiting around only makes you hungrier - literally and metaphorically.

Here’s what worked for me:

  • Audit Your skills: What can you teach, coach, or do? Find it and offer 1-hour coaching sessions or consultations.

  • Start Simple: Maybe it’s $25 an hour (My first earning) Who cares if it’s unscalable or rough around the edges? Sell now, refine later.

Does your first offer stink? Probably. But congratulations!

You’re now getting paid to do customer research and learn what people actually need. Don’t wait for perfection; it’ll never come.

Start now with what you already have!

Lie Two. Virality Factor

Going viral has some benefits but waiting for going viral to make money is the biggest lie I heard and believe a lot.

I was obsessed with going viral in early days because it makes dopamine high but it doesn’t pay the bills so it suits down so fast.

The Reality Check:

Here’s how you can shift your focus…

Conversion > Engagement: Optimize your social media/Substack for income to grow.

Quality Over Quantity - High-paying clients don’t care about likes (if you’re service not related to that) instead, they care about what you say, how you say it and why.

Virality can hit your ego and introduce you to many people but they only stick when you create a funnel that keeps them coming to you in lope.

Lie Three. Be an Expert

If you're solving a problem, congratulations - you’re already an expert to someone who’s two steps behind.

Sometimes it’s hard to help someone who’s 10 steps behind you. So don’t try to be an expert; instead, sell what you already know to someone who’s struggling with that.

The reality Check:

Be Your Own Case Study: Solve a problem for yourself, then help others do the same. (Like my first website sucks but after doing 100 of edits and months of learning generate me money, so now I provide my clients a personality-packed website that help them to grow their business.

Public vs. Private Solutions: Solving a problem in private? Self-improvement.

Solving it in public? That’s a business.

Expertise isn’t about degrees or certifications - it’s about real-world results. Simple formula:
