I was afraid because English is not my first language. I used to think I would never be a good writer, even though I had really good ideas to write about and my writing style was good in my native language.
For a long time, I avoided it, but when I started freelancing, I needed to write because I had to deal with international clients.
Whether it was crafting emails, writing proposals, or explaining my services, I couldn’t escape the fact that writing was the backbone of my career.
I can’t thrive without having a good sense of writing.
Somehow I managed to do everything, but my love for writing showed up when I wrote my website. For the first time, writing felt personal. It wasn’t just about stringing words together to communicate with clients - it was about expressing who I am and what my business stands for. That process helped me find a deeper connection with my writing.
After that, I crafted my skill in writing and wrote a lot, even though sometimes I stuck expressing my feelings and needed help from tools like Grammarly and multiple proofreading.
But with each piece I wrote, I got better, and writing became less of a task and more of a passion.
This changed my life completely.
Last month, on 10 August, I started writing on Medium.
In my first month (which is 21 days), I earned $99.74, gained 200+ followers, and even landed 3 clients.

That small amount of money wasn’t life-changing but it validated something important: my words had an impact. People were reading what I wrote and it resonated with them.
My new journey is so beautiful and smooth that I love it and also find more good ways to share my thoughts and connect with more enthusiastic and real people.
From Medium I heard about Substack and Now I’ve been on Substack for less than a month and found the same vibe here people are genuine, encouraging, and actually want to support and learn from others.
The past few years as a solopreneur have taught me so much. It wasn’t an easy journey-especially the first 2 years which were full of struggle.
I figure out how to market myself and deal with the constant ups and downs of freelancing. There were days when I wanted to give up. But now, looking back, I realize those struggles were part of the process that helped me grow.
After 2 years of struggle, I built the business that I’ve been running for 3 years, and now I’m ready to share those lessons with others. Whether it’s through website copy, blog, or my newsletter.
